BHA Coaching and Managing
BHA’s success with its house and travel programs lies in the dedication from our parent volunteers.
Working together, BHA parent and professional coaching provides high-impact training and practices unlike any other hockey association in the area. It is the expectation of BHA that our parent coaches are on-ice for practices to work individually with our players or alongside professional trainers to ensure that our players are working hard, being safe and having fun.
If you are interested in becoming a coaching volunteer, team manager or want more information on how to become a parent volunteer please email info@birminghamhockey.net.
USA Hockey Requirements
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Birmingham Hockey Association! Whether you are a coach, a volunteer or a team manager, there are important requirements, courses and certificates that you need to complete before you can participate or be rostered on a team.
Coaching Requirements
BHA takes these requirements very seriously, specifically the SafeSport program.
Reminder: To be a coach (e.g., be behind the bench for games, scrimmages, and tournaments, including anyone "helping with the door"), all rostered Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches must complete steps 1-5 before the first game of the season. You need to be compliant with step 6 before December 31 for each season (October 31 for Split Season teams).
Managing & Volunteering Requirements
BHA works to create a safe and fun environment on and off the ice.
All volunteers that can be near youth players, including team managers, locker room monitors, penalty box personnel, off-ice coaches, guest coaches (skating and goalie) and everybody helping on the ice must complete the following:
